The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is unique to each vehicle and describes the year of production, series designation, body style, engine, assembly plant and production number. It should be spot welded to the A-pillar, next to the door hinge, on the drivers side.

Decoding The Numbers

The VIN consists of 12 numbers and characters if it was manufactured in America, or 11 numbers and characters if it was manufactured in Canada.

American built - For example: 45837H100001 decodes this way: 4 / 58 / 37 / H / 100001.
