1971 Chevelle Power Teams

These are the engine, transmission, and rear axle combinations for the 1971 Chevelle.

In 1971, General Motors offered five different engines in seven different horse-power ratings, eight different transmissions, and two different rear axles with six different axle ratios.

The engines offered were the 250 with 145 hp, the 307 with 200 hp, the 350 with 245 hp or 270 hp, the 402 with 300 hp, or the 454 with 365 hp, or 425 hp.

The transmissions offered were the 3 speed Saginaw with 2.85:1 or 2.54:1 ratio, the 4 speed Mucie with 2.52:1 or 2.20:1 ratio, the heavy duty 3 speed Muncie with 2.42:1 ratio, the heavy duty 4 speed Muncie with 2.20:1 ratio, the Powerglide, and the Turbo Hyrda-Matic.

The rear axles were offered in either a 10 bolt or 12 bolt differential using 2.56, 2.73, 3.08, 3.31, 3.36 or 4.10 axle ratios with or without positraction.
