1968 Chevelle Power Teams

These are the engine, transmission, and rear axle combinations for the 1968 Chevelle.

In 1968, General Motors offered five different engines in nine different horse-power ratings, twelve different transmissions, and two different rear axles with eleven different axle ratios.

The engines offered were the 230 with 140 hp, the 250 with 155 hp, the 307 with 200 hp, the 327 with 250 hp, 275 hp or 300 hp, and the 396 with 325 hp, 350 hp or 375 hp.

The transmissions offered were the 3 speed Saginaw with 2:85:1 or 2.54:1 ratio, the special 3 speed Warner with 2:86:1 or 2.41:1 ratio, the 3 speed Saginaw overdrive with 2:85:1 or 2.54:1 ratio, the 4 speed Saginaw with 2.54:1 ratio, the 4 speed Mucie with 2.52:1 ratio or 2.20:1 ratio, the 4 speed heavy duty Muncie with 2.20:1 ratio, the Powerglide, and the Turbo Hydra-Matic.

The rear axles were offered in either a 10 bolt or 12 bolt differential using 2.73, 3.07, 3.08, 3.31, 3.36, 3.55, 3.70, 3.73, 4.10, 4.56, or 4.88 axle ratios with or without positraction.
